This research paper is about how life changing circumstances can be integrated into the design of Decision Support systems applications so that credit decisions will be made on broader basis and not only on a credit score. The problem is that DSS applications are widely used in the financial industry especially in credit facility determination decisions. It is also true that there are many life circumstances that credit applicants could have that DSS applications are not designed to consider when making instant credit decisions. Often times DSS provides instant approval/denial decisions for applicants by using only their credit scores. Credit score cannot tell everything about an applicants life in general. Could integrating some reasonable life circumstances that explain why credit applicant has less than perfect credit into the DSS be a worthwhile venture?
