Health Education and its importanceConclusionReference listIntroduction
I believe that individuals health depends on many things. These include how parents do raise their children the behavior of individuals their attitude towards healthier living education and culture. It is important to understand health education and its implication on the lives of human beings. This includes the role it plays towards a better living for individuals. Health can refer to the harmonious participation of body organs to act and play their role without any defect (Alters & Schiff 2011). The body functions normally when each organ participates and functions well with each other. Many people define health as the absence of illness or a disease. However health is more than this as it includes the harmonious participation of all body organs to function at their level best as they are supposed to do. Thus health education is the profession that enlightens people on issues regarding their health and how to maintain a healthy life. Individuals can understand the principles that are vital to the maintenance of a healthy body and to use available resources to acquire good health. People need to restore their deteriorating health through proper maintenance and planned experience from experts who offer life skills to individuals (Glen Sawyer & McNeill 2011).
Health education and its importance
Health education strives to provide skills and expertise to individuals through knowledge sharing on the matter. It sensitizes on a good behavior change and proper diet to help the body organs work properly and in the right manner. When offered at the community level health education helps to improve individual and community health. This is through increasing their knowledge understanding and practices on how to live in a healthy environment. The main role played by health education to individuals and the community influencing the living and working conditions of people and how such factors affect their health. When offered at the community level health education helps in the development of individuals community and the system established by the concerned authority to improve health (Alters & Schiff 2011).
The food that is consumed by people influences their health to a very large extent. Thus the quantity and quality of food should be taken into consideration. For the body to function at its optimum level it should acquire enough nutrients that are helpful to its well-being and coordination of body organs. When kids are born their mother feed them on a rich diet that include breast milk which is rich in minerals and nutrients that are useful for a healthy body growth. As they grow other foods are introduced which are rich in growth nutrients to protect them against diseases and illness that may be life threatening to their life (Alters & Schiff 2011). Healthy eating is emphasized by doctors as the food that people consume will greatly affect their health. An individual should always consume a balanced diet that contains a certain amount of proteins carbohydrates fats and oils as well as mineral salts. Doctors also emphasize on taking a considerable amount of water that is essential to a healthy body. Water helps to hydrate the body and this is critical in facilitating the functioning of the body (Glen Sawyer & McNeill 2011).
Health education is important to an individual and the community as it helps to improve the health of individuals and enhances the maintenance of a good and healthy lifestyle. This is in line with the doctrine of a healthy nation is a developing one. Health education incorporates life skills that are passed to individuals. These skills are later passed on from one generation to another and this leads to a continuation of a healthy generation (Lebel 2003). Individual behavior is kept in check with a follow up on the health guidelines. This helps to prevent premature death among children and youths and it enhances a quality living for all people. Health education is viewed as a prevention measure as it reduces the chances of people contracting illnesses and other preventable ailments. A healthy life is cost saving as one stands to avoid the high costs associated with hospital bills. The country also benefits from a healthy population. In this case most of the funds that would have been directed towards providing health care services are channeled to other development projects. Companies also benefit from a healthy nation as they can hire a healthy workforce that can work optimally without any interruptions of sick leaves and insurance payment for sick employees (Plowman & Smith 2008).
Individual attitude and behavior should incorporate the morals of the community. People should consume healthy foods that are essential to their body and the functioning of its organs. It should be a habit for individuals to keep their health in check as much as possible and avoid substances such as alcohol and drugs. Smoking of cigarettes should be avoided as it interferes with body organs like the lungs. Smoking also affects the environment through pollution. Expectant mothers are discouraged from smoking as it interferes with the health of the unborn child. Proper health education among the community helps to eradicate some individual vices that are not in line with the morals of the community (Lebel 2003).
Culture may determine the health aspect of individuals and communities at large. Culture and norms of the community dictate the lifestyle that people follow. An interactive culture that appreciates the importance of maintaining a healthy life is vital for the enhancement of the society (Plowman & Smith 2008). People should engage in physical exercises as they strengthen the body and enhance muscle development. A strong body is not only vital but also crucial to individuals and their bodies. In some communities where bad eating habits are prevalent the health of children is at risk with issues like obesity being reported. Proper eating habits should be encouraged among children to promote health. The young generation should be encouraged to take up sports and other outdoor activities like swimming in an effort to maintain a healthy and strong life (Alters & Schiff 2011).
Conclusion
A healthy body is vital for individuals as it helps the body organs to function and coordinate in a proper way. Thus health education is important to both an individual and society. A healthy population will ensure that the nation attains economic development as people will be healthy and strong to provide the skills needed to run the country. Health education is very critical. In this case it enhances individuals quality of life. It is also essential in reducing the chances of premature deaths among children. Health education also discourages the use of drugs and other harmful substances in the community. Thus everyone should practice healthy living to maintain a healthy and strong body.”
